Project Brief

This poster was created for an exhibition titled Now & Next: Typographic Futures. Our goal for this exhibition was to research current and growing design trends, and make a guess on what we personally thought the future of Typography looked like.

Along with our poster we were charged with creating an AR component to go along with our poster design. This component was meant to add to the poster’s message and theme, as well as give us experience in working with AR design.

Research

Through my research, I was really inspired by the Anti-Design movement - a trend that thrives on rich colors and experimental layouts. The rise of rapidly growing technologies that have become increasingly accessible to the average person has really allowed for this design movement to grow. It has become much easier for anyone to take part in design without needing access to expensive equipment. That core change from the strict adherence to design principles and techniques to a more individual and carefree approach is what I wanted to shine through this poster.

Sketches

With these sketches, I wanted to get a dripping / glitching effect on the larger text. I wanted to use this to reflect the growing individualism in Design that has greatly been influenced by the rise in easily accessible technologies.
