Project Brief
The goal of this project was to create a New Years themed app that would help users track their goals / habits. Our app needed to have something that made it stand out against the other goal oriented apps that already exist. We were responsible for making sure our app had a smooth UX, as well as a cohesive UI that engaged our target audience.
Research
We conducted our research by examining already-existing goal tracking apps, and figuring out what we thought worked and what didn’t. Using this research as inspiration for what we wanted to be included in our own apps, we began to flesh out our vision for the direction we wanted our theming to go.
After research, I decided I wanted my app to be butterfly themed, using the metaphor of “metamorphosis” to help the user visualize their growth. To keep the process fresh, I intended for the app to allow the user to grow different types of butterflies, as well as keep them in their own butterfly menagerie. This way, the user can always go and look back on their past progress and see how much they’ve achieved.
Prototyping
This step was great for organizing how we wanted the app to be laid out, as well as testing how easy the interface is to navigate around.
